Château Ksara & Arak Production
Château Ksara is Lebanon’s oldest winery, established in 1857 by Jesuit monks. It is renowned for producing high-quality wines and Lebanon’s most famous **arak**, known as **Arak Ksarak**. The winery blends tradition with modern techniques, offering a range of wines and spirits that reflect the rich terroir of the Bekaa Valley.
How Arak is Made
Arak, Lebanon’s traditional anise-flavored spirit, is distilled from **grape-based alcohol** and flavored with **green aniseed**. The production involves **triple distillation** in traditional copper stills, ensuring purity and smoothness. After distillation, the arak is aged in **clay jars** for several months, allowing the flavors to mellow and develop. It is typically served diluted with water and ice, turning a milky-white color due to the anise oils.
